Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Cupcakes {Step-by-Step Photos}

These cute little Rudolph the red nosed reindeer cupcakes are perfect for making with kids in the Christmas holidays. Scroll down for step-by-step photos showing how easy it is to assemble them. My son Joshua (he's 9) loved making these reindeer cakes with me.

I used beige coloured mini Smarties and black writing icing to make eyes for my Reindeers, but you could use white chocolate buttons or the ready-made edible eyes from the baking aisle of the supermarket. Glacé cherries also make great Rudolph noses instead of red Smarties. Be creative and not restricted by the ingredients here.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • 12 vanilla or chocolate fairy cakes (I used this recipe to make 12 fairy cakes, but you could make muffins if you prefer larger cakes)
  • 250g chocolate buttercream or frosting (I used this recipe which gave me more than enough frosting - you only need 20g per fairy cake)
  • 24 mini pretzels
  • 12 large red smarties
  • 24 beige mini smarties
  • Black writing icing

Method:

  1. Spread each fairy cake with chocolate frosting.
  2. Attach two pretzels to each fairy cake for antlers
  3. Use one red Smartie to make a red nose on each fairy cake.
  4. Make eyes on each cake using two beige mini Smarties. Use a dot of black writing icing in the centre of each beige Smartie to make a pupil.
