Unlike regular chocolate brownies, there's no melting or folding with Nutella chocolate brownies. It takes less than a minute to mix the ingredients in a food processor (I pulse the mixture in my Magimix until smooth) or five minutes by hand. The Nutella is easier to mix at room temperature.

Chopped roasted hazelnuts are great in Nutella chocolate brownies - stir a couple of tablespoons into the batter before baking. For the ultimate Nutella chocolate brownie dessert experience, serve warm with vanilla ice-cream drizzled with hot Nutella. If you love them then try Nutella Cookies.

Nutella Chocolate Brownies

  • Makes: 12 brownies
  • Time:  10 mins prep + 15 mins baking
  • Cost:  25p per brownie
  • Calories:  270 per brownie

  • 400g Nutella (you can buy a 400g jar to make life easy)
  • 3 medium eggs
  • 90g plain flour, sieved
  • Pinch of salt (optional but improves the flavour)

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180 C / 160 fan / gas mark 4. Line a 20cm square tin with baking paper. You can brush the baking paper with a little oil if you are worried about the mixture sticking.

  2. Mix the nutella in a bowl to loosen. Add the eggs and stir until smooth. Finally add the flour and salt and stir until combined. Alternatively, pulse the nutella and eggs in a food processor until smooth, then add the flour and pulse again until just combined.

  3. Pour the mixture into the tin and bake for around 12-15 minutes until just set. Check after 12 minutes, and if it's very wobbly bake for a further 3 minutes. Don't worry if it seems a bit soft as it will firm up as it cools. Leave to cool completely and cut into 12 squares.
