What Has Gourmet Mum Done? 18th February 2013

Wow, is it already over half way through February? I seem to have been quite busy with the Gourmet Garden Blog Off Cook Off and Daniel's operation recently, but are settling down a bit now and life is getting back to normal-ish.

Wow, it's been a really fun week this week...

Tuesday was Pancake Day and Joshua was keen to get involved as usual. As well as traditional pancakes I made some savoury mini cheese and basil pancakes this year using a splodge of Gourmet Garden basil and parmesan. Very good with onion relish. I also discovered the best pancake filling in the world.... leftover warm apple crumble and nutella.

Wednesday was pretty exciting as I went off to Southbank, London, for lunch at Canteen with Phil Vickery. In a couple of weeks I'm making some videos with him for the British Turkey website. We'll be cooking some of Phil's yummy turkey recipes together.

If you're wondering what Phil is like in real life... well he's just like he is on the telly. He's really down to earth, very real, funny, loves his wife, loves his family and loves his piggies - he keeps piggies and feeds them himself everyday. I count it a real privilege to be working with him and will keep you posted.

Thursday was Valentines Day, but as Rich was away on business I had a romantic breakfast of boiled egg and soilders with my two little boys after a very sleepless night.

I was glad I was organised this year and found the coolest Valentines Day card (thanks to moonpig) a few days earlier. I managed to cook us some Bacalhau à Bráz (Portuguese dish made with salted cod - not the most romantic thing in the world but tastes amazing) before Rich got home.

Wow, times have changed. But we still make a great pair.

Hope you had a romantic one, Filipa x
